Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination (SCRA Exam)

SCRA Coaching in Delhi UPSC conducts examination for selection of candidates for appointment as Special Class Railway Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways. The examination comprises written test in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, General Knowledge, and Psychological Test (Mental Ability). The question paper will be set in English Language only. The selected candidates are called for an interview, which is followed by a medical examination. The standard of syllabus is that of Class XII (CBSE equivalent). The selected candidates undergo a four years rigorous training programme in Mechanical Engineering, for which the Institute has a Memorandum of Understanding with BIT, Mesra, Ranchi. The semester system of BIT, Mesra is followed, with workshop training sessions during the holidays at BIT, Mesra. The candidates are awarded Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering after successful completion of four years of training. This degree is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education. After successful completion of four years of training, the candidates join as Indian Railway Services of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) Officers in Indian Railways

(A) Tentative Schedule
(i) Notification of Examination February
(ii) Conduct of Examination July

(B) Age - limits: 17-21 years on 1st August of the year of examination
certain categories of persons as specified in the Notice are eligible for age relaxation.

(C) Educational Qualification
For Admission to the examination a candidate -
(I) Must have passed in the first or second division, the Intermediate or an equivalent examination of a university or board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and atleast one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

(D) Scheme of Examination
Part I : Written Examination carrying a maximum of 600 marks in the subjects as shown below :
